Peter Nicolai von Wilm was a German composer, pianist and conductor. He has written more than 250 works, including the only known Streichnonett. Nicolai von Wilm studied in the Lepizig Conservatory from 1851 to 1856. In 1857 he took a position as the second conductor at the City Theatre in Riga. In 1860, von Wilm was a music teacher at the Nicholas Institute in St. Petersburg. From 1875 he lived in Wiesbaden, where he died in 1911. The String Nonet, Op. 150 by Nicolai von Wilm was first published in 1911. It is a work structured in four movements, and written for 4 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, and double bass.
