The service

WatchDice shows you YouTube videos picked at random, through YouTube's official embedded player. We are a discovery layer: all content belongs to its creators and is served by YouTube.

When you watch a video here you are also using YouTube, so its terms of service apply.

The videos

Videos come from randomised searches of public YouTube uploads, with safe search on. Only videos that are public, allow embedding and are not age-restricted by YouTube enter the pool.

Randomness means that now and then a video may be odd, low quality or simply not to your taste. That is part of the fun.

If something seems genuinely inappropriate, use the report button under the player. It goes to our moderation queue, and a video with several reports is taken out of circulation automatically.

For creators

Videos play through YouTube's official player: the views, likes, comments and advertising revenue are yours, exactly as on YouTube. We never download, re-host or alter anyone's content.

If you don't want a video or a channel of yours on WatchDice, write to us through the contact page with the link, and we take it out of the pool.

Accounts

You don't need an account to roll the dice. With an account, created by signing in, you get history and favourites. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

You can delete your account, with everything tied to it, on the account page, at any time.

Votes and reports

Votes feed the Hall of Fame and make us stop showing videos nobody likes. Reports are used to moderate the pool.

Don't use them to manipulate the ranking or to attack videos or channels. We may ignore or remove votes and reports made that way.

Premium subscriptions

• They are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. The prices, and what Premium includes, are on the Premium page, and are confirmed at checkout.
• Cancel whenever you like from your account page: you keep Premium to the end of the period already paid for, and are not charged again.
• If a payment fails, Premium features are suspended until the payment goes through.

Themes to order

Each Premium account can have up to 5 themes. The name you give a theme is used to search YouTube.

The theme is yours alone: nobody else sees it or rolls from it. The videos we find for it also join everyone's pool.

If you stop subscribing the themes are kept, but only work again with an active subscription; you can delete them whenever you like. We may refuse or remove themes that are offensive, or that are used to get around these rules.

You can put our player on your site with the code from the Embed page, free and without an account. Don't alter it to hide where it comes from.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the API, scrape the service or try to disrupt it. There are automatic request limits, and we may suspend accounts that do.

Liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties. We are not responsible for the content of third-party videos.

Videos can disappear at any time, because they depend on YouTube and on whoever published them.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we update this page and the date at the top.
