This video from oorail.com continues the Hornby Advanced Passenger Train (APT) restoration project. The APT or Class 370 was an experimental high speed train that was in limited service during the early 1980s. Hornby released the model for a number of years during the same period. This video is second part in a series that looks to restore and enhance the APT set. This video concludes the look at the driving and trailing cars. It demonstrates how to replace the old filament bulb and diode setup with a more prototypical directional LED solution. The old bulb setup used a diode to light the bulb when the train was moving forward and leave the bulb unpowered when it was headed in the opposite direction. This video shows you how to use a 220 Ohm resistor, some wire, soldering iron and two square LEDs (one yellow and one red) to convert the old bulb to a directional (yellow going forward, red in reverse) solution.
