Don't Go It Alone: A Survivor's Advice for Newly Diagnosed Men | Keith Braganza

Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada1:042026

Keith Braganza was diagnosed with prostate cancer in June 2015 and was introduced to Prostate Cancer Support Toronto almost immediately. Meeting long-time survivors, and learning from what they had been through, gave him the hope and confidence to face his own treatment. He has stayed with the group ever since so he can do the same for other men. His advice to anyone newly diagnosed is to join a support group. If a group setting isn't for you, he suggests one-on-one peer navigation instead, which pairs you with a trained patient volunteer for personalised support. Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada supports men and their partners nationwide through regular online meetings, education sessions, printed and digital resources for the newly diagnosed, and support groups across the country. But first, get tested. Early detection saves lives. Don't wait for symptoms.
