Tiny Desk Unit w/ Julius Hemphill New Years eve 80/81

30 years ago tonight Tiny Desk Unit played DC Space for New Years eve. Upstairs in the loft, The World Saxophone Quartet performed. Around midnight TDU played. Saxophonist Julius Hemphill joined us on this version of Take Me To Paris. It was a magical moment for all of us. I remember so well his amazing playing and the way it inspired my synthesizer growls that night. The band is Susan Mumford on vocals, Michael Barron on guitar and he wrote the tunes, Terry Baker on bass and the late and wonderful Lorenzo "Pee Wee" Jones on drums.
