冬のある夜 -秋葉原で「メイドツアー」のアルバイトをしている主人公は大学教授の男と１年ぶりに再会する。 会話が進むにつれて、２匹の金魚をめぐる２人の過去が明らかになっていく。 kingyoは早稲田大学大学院の安藤紘平教授の指導のもと、学生が主体となって手掛けた映画である。監督はマレーシアからの留学生で修士１年のエドモンド・楊、プロデューサーは修士２年の板垣麻衣子。 川端康成文学にインスパイアされて生まれた本作は、カメラ２台を駆使し、全編を左右に２分割された画面で描くことで、男女２人の動きを余すことなく魅せると共に、秋葉原を舞台に耽美な世界観を表現。 メイドと金魚。 新しい日本と伝統的な日本。‐外国人監督ならではの感性で、日本文化の美しさや妖しさが万遍なく散りばめられた作品となっている。 第66回ヴェネチア国際映画祭短篇コンペティション部門入選。 The opening scenes of the 25-minute short film, KINGYO (2009), written and directed by Edmund Yeo.
