India: Kolkata/Calcutta "New Market" & Chowringhee Road

http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com The "New Market" is a vast, indoor market selling everything. Actually, Kolkata/Calcutta is just one big market selling everything...rather indoors or along the streets of which Chowringhee Road is a main one. It sounds rude but do not acknowledge any touts, beggers or anyone asking "where are you from"... forget about "no thank you"...being polite...any response just encourages them. Ignore, don't make eye contact and walk on. Despite all that, we enjoyed Kolkata/Calcutta for a few days only with its British Raj history.
