Capital Cold Cases, Topeka Kansas - Premiere Episode

KTWU and Capital Area Crime Stoppers have partnered together to create a new program offered for the first time in NE Kansas. Capital Cold Cases investigates some of Topeka's unsolved crimes. Family members paint us a picture of Washburn art student Tirell Ocobock, who was brutally murdered in 1976 on her way to her part-time job as a veterinary assistant. Following that, we learn about the case of 5-year-old Jackie Hay who was abducted from her front yard in 1981. CAPITAL COLD CASES was conceived and born out of a need for local law enforcement to gain new leads on local cold cases in an attempt to solve decade-plus old homicides. KTWU Emmy award-winning producer Scott Williams, and Topeka Police Department 23-year veteran law enforcement investigator, Detective Douglas Searcy, take viewers through an active local homicide investigation in hopes that someone watching holds the last piece of the puzzle needed to help solve these cold cases.
