Hand Bone Age. Method: Greulich & Pyle by William W. Greulich and S. Idell Pyle. Patient male: 14 mounths to 3 years of age. During infancy, bone age is primarely based on the presence or absence of ossification of the capitate, the hamate and the distal epiphysis of the radius. The capitate usually appears slightly earlier then the hamate and has a larger ossification center and round shape. The distal radial epiphysis appears later. edited: Dr. Ricardo Arenas Radiological Case by Ricardo Arenas.
