Urdu and Persian Poet, Philosopher, Politician, Professor, Writer, Critic The man who gave the idea of Pakistan. He woke the muslims of subcontinents up by his beautiful and heart touching poetry. He not only woke them up but also he asked muslms to read and and follow the teachings of Islam. He was Born in 9 November 1877 at Sialkot, Punjab, British India (present-day Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan) Notable and main work: Bang-e-Dara, The Secrets of the Self, The Secrets of Selflessness, Message from the East, Persian Psalms, Javid Nama, "Sare Jahan se Accha" His family was Kashmiri Brahmin (of the Sapru clan) that converted to Islam. In the 19th century, when the Sikh Empire was conquering Kashmir, his grandfather's family migrated to Punjab. Iqbal often mentioned and commemorated his Kashmiri lineage in his writings. Iqbal's father’s name was Sheikh Noor Muhammad.He was a tailor, not formally educated, but a religious man. Iqbal's mother Imam Bibi, from a Kashmiri family was describe
