The official music video for "Linger," from The Cranberries' 1993 debut album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, now restored to 4K from the original 16mm negatives. Melodie McDaniel directed "Linger", on 16mm black and white film, with director of photography Wyatt Troll operating the camera. Linger took cues from Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville (1965): hard light, deep contrast, film noir style. It was captured on film, and that is why this restoration begins at the negative rather than any later standard definition tape master. The original camera negatives were pulled from the 45°F UMG Film Archives, inspected, and scanned at PRO-TEK Vaults on a Lasergraphics Director, one frame at a time. Every frame was preserved as an uncompressed 4K image, and the 1993 edit was meticulously rebuilt from those scans, shot for shot, then color graded to capture the maximum amount of detail and dynamic range.
