Videos circulating on Instagram show a group of protesters staging a “die-in” on the opening night of a two-day Boiler Room takeover at Under The K Bridge on Friday, July 10. A “die-in” is a form of protest in which participants lie on the ground, remaining still to symbolize death. The demonstration was held in response to Boiler Room’s reported ties to KKR, the parent company of its owner, Superstruct Entertainment. KKR has faced criticism over alleged investments in weapon manufacturing, the controversial Coastal GasLink Pipeline, and Israeli companies operating in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
