We saw two new kits at the show: a production line configuration with maple outer plies and rosewood inner plies (available only in white), as well as a handsome mahogany set with 6-ply reinforcing rings. The snare drum selection was even more interesting, with a brass/maple hybrid, some classy stave-shell models, and a new lug casing design that vents the drum from beneath the lugs.
