Alien (1979) started out as a rip off of a million other creature features dating back to the 1930's, but because of the great work done by Ridley Scott and the production of the film it turned into its own original monster movie icon that still tops the box office and has fans talking to this day. I don't mention in this video the similarties between Dan O'Bannon's script and the beach ball scenes from the theatrical extension of his and John Carpenters student film, Dark Star (1974) but I believe thats the secret truest point I could make about the script being unoriginal as it is after all a haunted house slasher film in space. The main other movie talked about in this video is 1951's The Thing From Another World by Howard Hughes and Chris Nyby because structure wise I perceive it as the prototype to so many of my favorite horror films; John Carpenter's 1982 remake of the Thing is a much better film then its original and takes a vastly different approach, but when talking about the
