Hugh Trimble "Hir" - NPR Tiny Desk Contest Entry

"Hir" written and performed by Hugh Trimble. Filmed by Jeta Mulaj at The Music Box Theatre, Chicago IL. Featuring dance by Donnell Williams. I chose to perform at this desk in an old movie theater where I work in Chicago. The theater was built in 1929, and the desk has been there for almost as long. The space is home to many shadows, silver screen memories, stories and ghosts. I've always been moved by these kind of spaces, performing my songs in Central Park tunnels, rusting train stations, drafty old barns... Songs, to me, are like little hauntings; they are in motion, restless, living yet gone, manifest in the the voice of a singer and experience of a listener.
