Price of Persia: The Lost Crown | One-Minute Game Review

A lot of people were upset when it was announced that the new Prince of Persia game would be a 2D Metroidvania. But now that the game is out, and people have played it, it seems like there’s been a big change of tone. The Lost Crown has surprised a lot of people with how good it is. Even many of those who don’t typically love Metroidvanias have really enjoyed it. I definitely don’t think the focus of this game was to reinvent the wheel. There’s just no mechanics or ideas that makes this game stand out from others in this genre. But although it doesn’t revolutionize, what the game does really well is take the best aspects of other games in the genre and distill them into a single game that represents, what I believe to be, one of the most player-friendly Metroidvanias ever. This is a genre that has its foundation built upon the concept of exploring. But that can often come with a good amount of frustration, backtracking, and confusion.
