The American West0:542024

The Battle of the Rosebud, also known as the Battle of Rosebud Creek, occurred on June 17, 1876, in Montana Territory, involving the United States Army, led by General George Crook, and allied Northern Cheyenne and Lakota Sioux warriors, commanded by Chief Crazy Horse. This battle was part of the Great Sioux War of 1876 and unfolded as Crook's forces were advancing toward the Little Bighorn River. The Native American forces launched a surprise attack, leading to a fierce, day-long engagement. Although the battle was indecisive, it halted Crook’s advance, indirectly setting the stage for the defeat of General Custer at Little Bighorn a week later. #history #wildwest #civilwar
