Take a trip back to **SeaWorld Orlando in the 1980s, when a day at the park meant jumping dolphins, water-ski shows, sea lions, aquariums, and, of course, Shamu! Long before SeaWorld became known for roller coasters and thrill rides, the Orlando park was centered heavily around marine life, live shows, exhibits, and family entertainment. SeaWorld Orlando first opened in 1973, becoming one of the major attractions that helped establish Central Florida as America's theme park capital. For anyone who visited during the 1980s, SeaWorld had a completely different feel from the park we know today. There was the excitement of seeing Shamu perform, the comedy of the sea lion shows, the famous Clyde and Seamore, colorful flamingos, dolphins soaring out of the water, and plenty of opportunities to get absolutely soaked sitting a little too close to the action.
