Bleeding iron heart 80mL of water with 1gram of potassium thiocyanate and 1ml of hydrogen peroxide and 1ml of hydrochloric acid . The iron is attacked by the hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid to provide iron III ions and then react with the potassium thiocyanate to produce iron thiocyanate which is the dark red colour compound .
