3D Printing with Nylon Trimmer Line

Trimmer line is less than half the price of ABS or PLA, and it is more flexible and strong. It can be printed with an unmodified printrbot fairly easily. However, some people have commented that Nylon emits small amounts of toxic fumes when melted. These fumes cause symptoms like headaches, feeling lightheaded, and a sore throat. Please make sure you have a fan going and a window open near the machine, and you will be fine. The steps for printing with trimmer line are: 1. Get 0.105 in trimmer line. Make sure it is Nylon. I got mine on amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BKZT1S/ref=pe_17… 2. Dry the filament by putting it in an oven at 300 F for 3-4 hours. Don't dry all of it at once especially if you live in a humid climate. I dry enough to last a week. If you do not dry it, the extruded material will get all foamy and make your parts very bad looking. This is due to the evaporating steam. 3.
